We sit at the heart of faith for young people in Marrickville and surrounds. Everything we do is informed by a sense of journey: to become grounded in Christ, to be changed by His love, and to be commissioned and sent out to live our faith dynamically in the wider world.

About Us
Nobody should have to navigate life or faith on their own.
St Brigid’s Youth (SBY Ministries) is the Youth Ministry arm of St Brigid’s Parish, Marrickville. We’re a community of young people, leaders and families who believe that nobody should have to navigate life or faith on their own. Our mission is simple: to meet young people where they’re at, and to walk alongside them as they continue to grow.
For some, that begins by finding a place where they feel comfortable and accepted. For others, it means asking the hard questions of their faith, or serving others, or discovering new gifts and stepping into leadership. Every person’s journey is different, but nobody is expected to walk it alone.
From Year 3 through to young adulthood, there are opportunities for every young person to belong, contribute and grow. Whether it’s a youth group, retreat, choir rehearsal, social event, fundraiser or leadership team meeting, we want every experience to feel intentional. We care about creating environments that are welcoming without being superficial, well organised without losing their heart, and centred on genuine relationships that last beyond a single event.
Everything we do is grounded in the Passionist tradition of St Brigid’s Parish, which calls us to be present to others with compassion, hope and love. We’re also deeply inspired by the Lasallian tradition and values, which continues to shape the way we accompany and form young people. Together, these traditions remind us that every young person is known by name, valued for who they are, and capable of making a meaningful difference in their communities.
Gatherings & Streams
Youth Mass
Every Sunday, 6pm
Passion Alive (School Yrs 3 - 6)
Sunday Evenings on even weeks of the school term. 7pm (after Mass) - 8:30pm in the Parish Dining Room & Shrublands Hall.
Passion Alive & Passion High are currently combined and run at the same time.
Passion High (School Yrs 7 - 12)
Sunday Evenings on even weeks of the school term. 7pm (after Mass) - 8:30pm in the Parish Dining Room & Shrublands Hall.

Passion Poured (Ages 18+)
Sunday Evenings, 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month (excl. dates in the school holidays). 7pm (after Mass) - 8:30pm in the Parish Dining Room.
Passion Poured runs on an alternating schedule of internal formation sessions (dinner provided) and external outings (pay your own way).
Passion Combined │ Flagships │ Holiday Events
Flagships happen once a term when all Youth Streams combine and other school groups and parish youth groups are invited to help build communities outside the Marrickville area.
Where Passion High/Alive and Passion Poured happen to run at the same time, we often combine for an external formation activity like bowling, mini golf, go-karting, etc. in order to foster connections between all youth that are part of our ministry.

Ministries & Outreach
Passion Proclaimed Youth Choir (All Ages)
Every Sunday, for the 6pm Mass. Rehearsal begins at 5:15pm. Passion Proclaimed leads music at our weekly Youth Mass and throughout the liturgical year. New singers and instrumentalists are always welcome, and no audition is required. Simply join us at rehearsal or speak with one of our team after Mass.
Our Choir is also available for hire to provide music for weddings, funerals, and other liturgical and ceremonial celebrations. Please contact the team for more information.
SBY Fundraising Dept
The SBY Fundraising Department plans and delivers fundraising initiatives that support the ongoing mission of St Brigid’s Youth. Throughout the year we run events including Bunnings BBQs, Trivia Nights, Movie Nights, Market Days, Bake Sales, and other community initiatives.
Funds raised help the ministry remain self-sufficient, support youth formation opportunities, assist pilgrims attending events such as ACYF and World Youth Day, and enable us to give back to the wider Parish community and those in need across Marrickville.
Fundraising opportunities are advertised through the SBY WhatsApp Community and are open to all members involved in the Ministry.
SBY Retreats Dept
The SBY Retreats Department is a team of experienced facilitators who deliver retreats, reflection days, and formation experiences for schools, parishes, and youth communities. Each retreat is designed in partnership with the host community, allowing us to tailor content, activities, and budget to suit the needs of a particular year group, ministry, or event.
Whether you’re looking for a short reflection, a full retreat day (or set of days), or ongoing formation, we work closely with each community to create an engaging and meaningful experience.

SBY Media Dept
The SBY Media Department is responsible for the creative and digital presence of St Brigid’s Youth. The team captures photos and videos at events, develops promotional material, manages social media, supports our website and digital communications, and helps tell the story of our ministry through engaging content.
Media projects are coordinated alongside the SBY Leadership Team as required, with members contributing to events and creative projects throughout the year. If you have some skill in this area and are interested in getting involved, please contact the Youth Ministry Coordinator: Community & Engagement.
SBY Liturgy Dept
The SBY Liturgy Department supports the involvement and formation of young people within the liturgical life of the parish. Working alongside the Parish Liturgy Coordinator, the team helps coordinate ministries such as readers, greeters, altar servers, and the offertory procession, while encouraging young people to take an active role in the celebration of the Mass.
The team also assists in preparing prayerful and welcoming spaces for youth liturgies, retreats, and other formation events throughout the year. Our internal sessions are always 100% free to join and provide complimentary dinner. The Safeguarding Code applies to everyone engaged by the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney (CAS) in all physical and online interactions with children and adults at risk. Safeguarding is central to CAS’s mission and complements the Policy Manual and relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
