Church closed today, and until further notice, for deep cleaning
Dear members and friends of St Brigid’s Parish Family
As mentioned in my communication this afternoon, yesterday I was notified by NSW Health that a man and woman who attended the Vigil Mass at St Brigid’s church on Saturday, July 25 at 5 pm have subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
After further consultation, NSW Health has advised that the couple is considered low risk since health authorities believe they were not infectious at the time they attended the church.
As a precautionary measure, our church was closed today until further notice and will undergo a deep clean tomorrow, in line with NSW Health guidelines.
Anyone who attended the Vigil Mass on 25 July does not need to self-isolate but should get tested if they show any COVID-19 symptoms. Such symptoms include fever, cough, a sore or scratchy throat, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell.
We have encouraged our parish staff and Passionist community to be tested and to isolate until their tests results are back. This is simply for the purpose of good practice, as it seems we have entered into the Covid19 second wave.
We look forward to being in touch shortly, as soon as we are able to again provide a safe environment and reopen the Church.
The safety of our parishioners is of paramount concern. Thank you very sincerely for your kind patience at this time.
